So, I know COVID has put a damper on a lot of things and a lot of people's plans in 2020. On the flip side, I think Aly is one of the few people who has used online schooling to her advantage. Instead of staying bummed that classes were mostly virtual (which she was originally), she has used this as an excuse to travel.
Of course, she's always up for a hike. This one shows a time where she decided to run down the mountain and didn't quite make the stop . . .
However, during this Fall Semester, Aly has taken the opportunity to not just do day trips, but to literally travel from one coast to the other. (She's also developing quite the knack for finding cheap flights and travelling economically.) First she flew to North Carolina to hang out with Rylie (her BFF from HEFY) for a few days before Rylie started her at home MTC experience.
I don't even know what all these pictures are, but it looks like they had a lot of fun. 😜
Sarah (her BFF from Kentucky) also started at BYU this Fall, and the girls wasted no time creating some new memories. They took a tour of the U in memory of their EFY experience there. . .
. . . decided to go skydiving . . .
. . . visited Southern Utah and some state/national parks . . .
. . . took a road trip to Washington and Oregon and visited some more state/national parks (including Mount Rainier) . . .
. . . visited some temples for picture ops . . .
. . . and carved some pumpkins.
Meanwhile, Aly has also been prepping for her mission by doing a little shopping - not her favorite thing - and getting a perm, among other things.
Now, I gotta say, these pictures don't even scratch the surface of all the stuff Aly's been up to (that girl's a go-er! Always has been. And truthfully, most of these pictures I've scrounged from facebook from being friends with some of Aly's friends.) And I know that she is up until way past midnight every night. So it begs the question, how is she possibly getting any schoolwork done? Well, in talking to her it sounds like she just does it on the road. She took a couple midterms in the airport, has attended virtual classes while traveling in the car, and written papers on the road. So far her grades are pretty solid too. I couldn't do it. But it works for her, so to each their own.
100 miles an hour with her hair on fire. That is literally my child. She'll get it done . . . just in her own way. Love her though for blazing her own trail.
