Starting to Settle (April 2022)

After every move, it always takes about a year to feel like we've settled.  And while I always wish I could speed up the process, I've learned that through all the tears and frustrations of moving, if I just give it time, everyone will begin to thrive again.  In April, I was seeing more and more signs of this as we got closer to our one-year mark.

We took the kiddos, sans Lise, who was working, to a Tampa Rays baseball game with discount tickets through the school.  We decided baseball isn't the most entertaining sport to watch, but it was still fun to get out (and that it was an indoor stadium because it was Florida!)

Chris and I liked taking evening walks on the Bay.  We would invite the girls to join us, but they don't usually want to, so we just make it a date!

Chris got this snazzy storage system for the bed of his truck.  It holds a ton of stuff!  Work was also plugging along - meetings, meetings, and more meetings.  But I still got to see him more than usual, so that was a big plus!

In addition to working on my second school term, I was also able to get out every now and again for lunch with friends.

In addition to her favorite pastime of playing with/harassing Kylie, Lise decided to start a potted garden on our screened-in porch.  She did very well with her strawberries, green beans, and especially tomatoes!

Kate did a thing and decided to pierce her ears.  She also was doing great on the stage crew at school.  She really liked being on the light crew and working the play from up in the box.

The girls were enjoying youth activities more and actually wanting to go.  Phew!  That's always such a nice milestone to cross.  They especially had a lot of fun with sidewalk chalk and hungry hippos.  Yes, things were definitely starting to look up!

Hermana Suarez (Feb - April 2022)

In February, Aly was transferred back to the city, Asuncion, in the Leopardi area, Ciudad Villa Lisa in the Costa Bonita Ward.  She was happy to be back in the city where there are more people with less walking.  It's also good to reconnect with old friends and companions.  She was also excited for her new companion, Hermana Suarez, who is actually from Utah and a fellow extrovert.  Aly says the two of them are having a blast, they just need to take turns talking. 😂

Transfers mean getting to ride the colectivo and using Uber.

It's still super hot, so cold, tasty treats are still a must.

Occasionally they find other scrumptious things to snack on as well.

We have exchanged pictures of long dirt roads with paved alleyways . . .

. . . and hanging our laundry out to dry in them . . .

Over the top rainwater flooding is still a thing.

One thing's for sure.  Aly is loving being back in la Ciudad.

This was Aly's favorite transfer of the mission thus far.  She absolutely loved her district.  They worked together really well, performed some greats service, and had an absolute blast on pdays.  They also made a bunch of crazy district shirts!

Aly and Hermana Suarez also had 3 baptisms during this transfer: Kevin, Jesus, and Yasel.

Got to love the Chaco tan lines!

During this transfer, Aly was also made one of the Hermana Leaders of the mission.  This meant that she went out on a lot of splits with the other sisters and had to start doing training at conferences.
