Make it Festive (October 2021)

By October we were into our routine full swing - school, work, and tons of homework!  Thank goodness for family movie nights, dates with my hubby, ladies nights, and church youth programs to break up the humdrum a bit.

October is always a fun time for youth activities.  We did pumpkin painting/carving . . .

. . . Axe Throwing . . .

. . . cookie decorating . . .

. . . a multi-stake costume dance . . .

. . . and the highlight . . . a youth temple trip to do baptisms for the dead.

We have a great group of youth in our ward and I love the chance I have to be in there with my girls.

Not to be outdone by the kids, some ladies in my ward organized for a ladies' night out - dinner and a haunted house!  I hadn't been to one of those since high school, but it was so fun to get out!

It was kinda cool because this haunted house was on an old military ship in the bay.  Pretty neat!

A tangent about Lise. Due to staffing issues, her Clean Juice location shut down.  So she found another job (still making smoothies!) at Swami Juice.  She likes this job much better because she likes her manager and the people she works with better.  Meanwhile, while she was in between jobs, it was a great time to start working on her college applications and she also took up running.  Love it when my kids are motivated towards reaching goals!!

And finally, for October, there's Halloween.  Since Halloween was on Sunday this year, we didn't actually trick-or-treat, but we did do the trunk-or-treat for our ward.  We headed back to Goodwill to look for costumes.  We did not end up with the alien costume, but it was sure fun to walk around in while we were in the store.

So we ended up with a scarecrow, Rae from Star Wars, and Donna from Mamma Mia!

Kylie found her peeps early on.  A couple of them actually ended up coming over to my house to watch Witches. Lise and Kate ended up going with friends to a county fair.  Overall, it was a successful Halloween.

Meanwhile, Chris spent a good chunk of October in the middle east.  He spent a couple of weeks in Bahrain, Qatar, Syria, and Iraq.  It's full speed in SOCCENT!
