By September we were finally getting into a rhythm with school and activities. Even I got better at remembering to take pictures!
Here is Kylie with her teacher at back to school night. As you can see, they get along splendidly. Mrs. Leighton told me, "you have the sweetest girls. I just love them." I agree. As for Kylie, she gives Mrs. Leighton a hug every time she comes into the classroom and has loved all of Mrs. Leighton's rewards: getting to bring a stuffed animal to class, popcorn day, and Chick-fil-A lunch with the teacher. What a great 2nd grade year!
Kylie also decided to start taking Baton this year. She got Kate's hand me down baton and has loved being a "Twinkling Twirler."
Kate has two teachers this year, Mrs. Pendleton and Mrs. Kissel. Mrs. Pendleton told me, "I just love Kate's personality. She is very kind and respectful to everyone. She is very proud of her work and she helps me keep things straight." It is always a proud momma moment when you hear your children being praised by other adults. Makes me so grateful for my awesome kiddos. Kate was also one of two kids selected from her class to be on the academic team. Since Kate loves trivia questions (and just answering question in general) this is right up her alley. Go Kater!
Also, gotta get a few Karate pictures in here, since we are like livin' at this Dojo 4 days a week!
Lise's 8th grade year has proved to be a little more challenging than last year with much more homework. She has done well though, still participating in the National Junior Honor Society, and continues to keep her artistic flare alive through taking color coded notes and creating colorful binder covers for all her classes. (I am trying to convince her that math needs to be done in pencil, but it's an uphill battle. ;p )
We got Aly back into more physical therapy to help with her form and injury prevention. So far so good. She has been taking time off her race every meet and running without pain. Hooray!! That girl loves to run.
Also in September for Aly was homecoming. Not sure if the girls actually went to the dance, but they definitely used the opportunity to get spiffed up, go out to a nice restaurant, and take some fun pictures on the beach.
Here are some random pictures of the craziness that sometimes ensues at our house during dinner time. Seems like a good time to throw out some quotes of the week:
Kylie - Mom, why is it so easy to high five yourself in the mirror?
(Right?!? You can't miss!! Hahaha)
Kate - Mom, there's an extra small, and and extra large. Is there and extra medium?
Lise - I used to think that if you inhaled all yur farts no one else couls smell them. So I would hurry and breathe it all in as fast as I could.
Oh, and even though school was well underway, we were still clinging to summer for all it was worth. Aly and Lise wanted to get some Seaside t-shirts, so we grabbed some friends and headed out. Of course we had to take a bunch of cute pics to post on Instagram while we were there. ;)
I even got to be in a picture with my girls - yay!
And of course we had to hit the beach for Labor Day . . .

| Kate didn't want to wear her life jacket correctly, so instead turned it into a life jacket diaper when she went out to swim. Whatever floats your boat (or bootie). |
But the highlight of September had to be when my brother Spencer and his Family came out to visit. Of course we took them to the beach!
We also took them to the Naval Air Museum to see a bunch of planes.
Aly and Lise were in some sort of strange Posing mode that day . . .
Even Spence got in the cockpit.
Afterwards Aly and Lise really wanted to climb the lighthouse across the street, so I let them do that while Spence and Tiff took the boys back for naps.

Once the kids were back in school I went with my brother's family to the Gulfarium to see some more marine life.
And Spencer and Tiffany took off by themselves for overnight so I got to watch the boys. My nephews are seriously the cutest kids ever. We had fun playing trains and going to the park and splash pad.
It was so much fun to have the Jackmans out to visit us for a week. And those boys! They gave us tons of entertainment. Can't wait till we get to see all of them again.
Meanwhile, while we were sightseeing and hanging out, the rest of Florida was preparing for/evacuating for Hurricane Irma. Niceville even ran out of gas one day from everybody heading up the coast. Luckily Spence and Tiff's flight flew out before they could cancel any flights or anything. We'll miss you! Now on to getting serious about a possible hurricane!
We were keeping an eye on the path of the storm, but not stressing too much. Kate concocted her own plan of staying dry by wearing a garbage sack over her backpack and body. She went to school like this for a couple of rainy days before I had mercy on her soul and bought her and Kylie their own ponchos and umbrellas.

| They look like little turtles with umbrellas. Love it! |
And the verdict is - A NARROW MISS! Irma hit just about the entire state of Florida except for our tiny piece of the panhandle. Whew, that was close!
With hurricanes hitting fast and furious this summer, the girls started hearing talk at school about it being "the end of the world." I guess Kylie heard some of the girls talking about it over the dinner table because one day when we were driving down the street we saw some people running (aka joggers) and had the following conversation:
Kylie - Why is everybody running?
Me - Um, to get good exercise?
Kylie - Is it because aliens are going to attack us?
I guess that's what she thinks the end of the world is going to look like. Keep your eyes to the skies . . . ;p
